‘Maniac Cop 2 and 3’ Coming to Blu-Ray from Blue Underground

Maniac Cop 2 imageFans of the cult films Maniac Cop 2 and 3 will be pleased to know that Blue Underground will be bringing those films to blu-ray as part of a combo pack in the near future.  As of right now, there has not been a release date set or specs released but that should be forthcoming soon.

Blu-ray.com is reporting, Blue Underground has revealed that it plans to release combo pack editions of Bill Lustig’s Maniac Cop 2 (1990), starring Robert Davi, Claudia Christian, Michael Lerner, and Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence (1993), starring Robert Davi, Robert Z’Dar, and Caitlin Dulany.

Maniac Cop 2

This sequel to Maniac Cop pits Matt Cordell (Robert Z’dar), the crazed, murderous “Maniac Cop” of the first film (now horribly disfigured after a particularly brutal stay in prison), and Turkel (Leo Rossi), a serial killer who likes to murder strippers, against a frenzied NYPD detective, Sean McKinney (Robert Davi), who is just one step ahead of a nervous breakdown.

Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence

When Officer Katie Sullivan storms a hostage situation, she is shot by the supposed victim who is apparently an accessory to the crime. She manages to return fire before slipping into unconsciousness, ultimately killing her shooter. The whole incident is captured on tape by an unscrupulous media crew who edit the footage to show Kate killing a helpless victim. Now in a coma, Kate’s only hope is another detective, McKinney, who tries to clear her name. Unbeknownst to him, Matt Cordell, the “Maniac Cop,” takes it upon himself to clear Kate’s name and exact revenge upon those responsible for smearing her name. His vigilante mission takes a twisted turn when he kidnaps Kate from the hospital and prepares for an unholy wedding in an abandoned church. When McKinney interrupts Cordell’s deranged plan, an explosive confrontation may finally send the Maniac Cop to his final fiery doom.
