Horror Sales: Dark Skies, True Blood, and Hannibal

Dark Skies Bluray coverBox Office Numbers, DVD Sales, and Television Viewership for the week of June 14 to June 20, 2013.

Box Office: All the movies on this chart have dwindled down to three. At least The Purge is still a huge success; not bad for a movie made for only $3m.

5 1 The Purge $12,371,000 (Total: $56,016,000)
18 16 Oz The Great and Powerful $429,000 (Total: $234,362,000)
28 54 Scary Movie 5 $147,000 (Total: $31,590,000)

DVD Top 30: Titles are plummeting here as well, but Dark Skies debuts in the top 5.

1 4 True Blood Season Five $2,507,000 (Total: $6,232,000)
4 Dark Skies $2,036,000
6 3 Beautiful Creatures $1,754,000 (Total: $3,986,000)
21 19 Dexter Season Seven $493,000 (Total: $4,295,000)
23 23 Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 $357,000 (Total: $67,057,000)

Television Viewership: True Blood returns for a new season with its lowest rated premiere in years. It’s still a hit though. Hannibal saw its season finale get its lowest rated episode of the season, which is weird because viewership usually goes up. Paranormal Witness still gaining viewers which makes me happy.
