Deadly Beauty: Horror’s Scream Queens and Rising Talent: Deva Dread

1002823_598635420168141_1344265285_n“My childhood was never one of an average kid. It was always a mess of horror movies, dying my hair, fake blood and eventually acting. In the 16 short years of my life so far, I’ve done a lot more than the average teenager.

I got thrown into the big lovely mess that is the horror film world because of my mom. She’s been doing acting for a long time. I started really young. My first time acting was in the film Wet kiss. I was just a wee one then, but I really enjoyed it. Since then I’ve done a bunch of acting, and now I’ve even gotten into alternative modeling. All in all I’ve loved this life, and all the fake blood that comes along with it!”*

Location: Pennsylvania

1. How did you get into the industry?

Like I said before, I got into the industry thanks to my mom. She introduced me when I was still really young. It all started with the feature film Wet kiss. I’ve since gone on to do short films like Shortcut through the graveyard, and I dare you (which I co-wrote) both with are part of the upcoming horror anthology Tortured tales from BellyUp Productions and Ikuzo Studios.

For a while time I didn’t do much, but then I was offered a role in a DTVM (Destiny the Vampire Series) series. I play a goth teen witch. I was really excited to get back into it, especially since I’m playing a role so much like myself. It’s really nice to work with Ikuzo studios, because I’ve know James since I was young.

2. What Scream Queen inspired you most?

My absolute favorite actress is Helena Bonham Carter. She has such a macabre and alluring air about her, and her acting is so quirky. I positively love it. Even her voice is gorgeous. She always adds a darkness to what ever she does, and what can I say? I dig it like a grave.

3. What are the next couple projects you are working on?

Well like I said, I’m currently doing a role in a DTVM series called Destiny the Quest starring Debbie D. I’m also working to finish the last three of four shorts from the Maternal Instincts anthology I co-wrote with my mom Amira Lyn, fellow Scream Queen. I’ve also been pretty busy writing up new film ideas and working with my modeling. I recently did my first professional photo shoot with a good friend and her company Fioravante Photography. She’s really talented and I’m glad I got to work with her.
