I had the horrific pleasure of meeting the creative minds behind the cuddly Scare Bears Nancy and Jay at Flashback Weekend in Chicago this year. Their booth was literally the coolest booth at the con! Each bear is hand made and super durable. I have seen other handmade “scare bears” and in my opinion these are made to be hugged and enjoyed on a physical level (ha!) and not just on display. With all the work and care that goes into these it’s nice to know they can be handled and loved. They had their adorable children there to show you just how durable they were….kids certainly have rough love.
I was blown away by the detail, and some could even glow in the dark! Others had little voice boxes in em and some with tear away faces! They are no strangers to the horror con circuit and have sold their bears to horror icons like Danny Trejo, Michael Rooker, and Kane Hodder! NOTE: Each bear is handmade and takes alot of time so their prices reflect that along with the competitive convention prices of celebrities where people pay $60-100 for an autograph.
