Scriptures and Screams: Kill Division: Destructive Force CD Review
When you have a band that is comprised from other blasphemous and hard hitting bands such as Legion of the Damned, God Dethroned, Asphyx, and Inhume, you know you are in for one hell of a ride. With songs like Mechanical Domination (inspired by the ‘I Robot’ movie and our dependence on technology) and Locked Up Forever (about Natascha Kampusch, an Austrian woman who was held prisoner and tormented in a cellar for nearly nine years), Susan Gerl certainly shows her chops as the lyric writer (and guitars!) while Richard Ebisch (guitars, bass, vocals) and Roel Sanders (drums) bring their technicality and savagery to the music. Ebisch and Gerl (usually guitarists), take up the lead singing for the first time. Gerl goes on to say: “recording the vocals was initially a challenge for us since we are first and foremost guitarists. Neither of us had any experience with singing that long and that much and recording our vocals this way. I used to do some additional vocals with my previous bands but had never recorded any vocals for a full length CD. But we were really well-prepared and had practiced our singing extensively beforehand. The recordings went smoothly and we are really happy with the way our voices sound on the album.”* Certainly a fine mix of Death, Grind and Thrash metal, don’t look for this album to be a carbon copy of any of their previous bands, but a fine metal blend that will only get better with age! With the pedigree that all three members come from, European Death Metal never sounded better!
