2008 – The “first” of “our” kind. The woman who set the standard of the “horror host,” “Vampira” a.k.a. Maili Nurmi, passed away at the age of 86. She co-starred in the infamous “Plan 9 From Outer Space” and “The Magic Sword.”

2002 – Comic artist John Buscema passed away at the age of 74. Through the 60’s and 70’s he was an important part of Marvel’s rise to becoming a major comic company, having drawn just about every high profile Marvel figure including “The Avengers,” The Fantastic Four” and “The Silver Surfer.”

1982 – Comedian and “Hollywood Squares” center square, Paul Lynde passed away at the age of 55. He played the recurring role of “Uncle Arthur” the warlock on the “Bewitched” series.

1981 – Richard Boone, who starred in the films “I Bury the Living” and the TV movie “The Last Dinosaur,” passed away at the age of 63.
