Only Dream of Me Indiegogo

Crowdfundung can be a stressful time for any project.  For some films it can be just a matter of contacting a certain person to share your campaign and for others it can be a matter of sparking their interest.   Regardless of what it takes we here at Horror Society support all horror flicks from all walks of the genre so when we hear a film is putting together a crowdfunding campaign we share it to show our support.  Today a friend of Horror Society, the bearded Jack Norman, reached out to me about a new Indiegogo campaign for the film Only Dream of Me.  You can read more about the project below:

‘LET THE RIGHT ONE IN’ meets ‘MONSTER SQUAD’

I grew up a monster kid. Some of my earliest memories are of hours with Frankenstein, the Wolf Man, and the Creature, all of whom captivated my imagination and set me on a path to where I am today. My journey has led to being a writer (Fangoria, Famous Monsters of FIlmland, Horrorhound), producer (Shout Factory, Anchor Bay, Screenvision, Trancas Films), and filmmaker (YOU CAN’T KILL THE BOGEYMAN, UNZIPPING BODY BAGS, SHIFT).

The idea for ONLY DREAM OF ME was conceived during a late night trip up the foggy mountainside  last fall, and right away I knew it would be my next narrative. Simply put, this is the story of a boy and a ghost, about innocence born and lost, and about finding beauty in most unusual places. Relatable for anyone who grew up with their nose buried in movie magazines and monster mythology, ONLY DREAM OF ME is a monster movie from fans, for fans.

In addition to being a stand-alone short, ONLY DREAM OF ME is the first of four segments of an anthology film shooting in stages over the coming months, assembling some of the most exciting up and coming talent in the business. We can’t spoil the names involved just yet, but each entry is going to be from a  fresh new voice in the genre, all blended into what will be a daring, exciting and entertaining stew. This is just the  first step, and we are thrilled to have you on board.

This is an ambitious tale, and we are running a short campaign because of time constraints. My desire to eschew CGI in favor of practical effects dates back to the aforementioned roots in classic cinema, and then to the heyday of practical in the 1980s. What began with Jack Pierce and the Universal monster cycle came to apex with Rob Bottin’s work in John Carpenter’s THE THING and all the splatter flicks that followed in its revolutionary wake. Because I love that stuff so much, all of what you see on screen in DREAM ONLY OF ME will be practical, and will come from the brilliant mind and skilled hands of Eric Fox and his crew at MorbX FX.
Our goal of $15,000 is conservative, and I hope, a starting point for putting this spooky opus together. In addition to the effects, there is costuming, lights, cameras, locations, and all the rest of the technical components of filmmaking. On top of that you add food and travel, and you start to see where the money all goes.
Our cast and crew roster is quickly growing. Once you have contributed to the campaign, you will start getting updates as new faces are added, and be included in the first wave of notifications whenever announcements are made.
JUSTIN BEAHM – Director, writer, producer
ERIC FOX and MORBX FX – Creature and special makeup FX
Eric starred in season four of Syfy’s competitive makeup effects show FACE OFF, standing out from the pack with his ambitious, creative creations. His popularity with audiences led to him getting his own show on the network, FOXY AND FRIENDS, which premiered earlier this year. His company is responsible for beasties and bloody bits in over two dozen films and television shows, in addition to music videos and live events.
ROB HIMEBAUGH – Composer. Rob is an all-in creative force, writing and directing a number of celebrated films including EAGLEWALK and SILK. While he is quickly becoming recognized for his behind the camera skills, he is most recognized for his many gorgeous film scores.
TRAVIS KRAUS – Assistant Director
Travis has shared his skills with a number of film and television productions, including SPLATTER: LOVE, HONOR AND PAINTBALL, COLLAPSE, and FINDING JOHN SMITH.
MARK BRITTON – Camera
Mark has been involved with over a dozen films, between his own camera work and that of his production company Bad Influence Cinema.
Those that contribute will receive some pretty serious perks so be sure to head over to Indiegogo IGG and help out.  Remember, always support indie horror!
