The Fisherman Returns with I Know What You Did Last Summer Reboot.

I-Know-What-You-Did-Last-Summer

I Know What You Did Last Summer is low-key one of my most favorite horror film franchises. I think it’s extremely underrated and doesn’t always get the credit it deserves. Apparently, Sony Pictures agrees with me because an I Know reboot is currently in pre-production.

A reboot, as it’s being called, is a tricky term. It could be another word for a remake or it could be a new entry in the franchise that’s used to reignite interest in the movies. I’m sure there’s a creative way to bring The Fisherman or his kin back from the dead…again. As of right now, I’m not sure which direction the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot is headed in.

What I do know, as confirmed by a multitude of other sources, is that Oculus writers Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard are penning the official screenplay. Original franchise producer Neal H. Moritz is returning to the new movie and resuming his role as producer. The behind-the-scenes line up looks pretty good so far, but I think the director and cast members are what will really make the movie succeed or sink into the ocean like Ben Willis did.

I’ll keep you guys up-to-date as this title develops!

I Know What You Did Last Summer, the 1997 slasher flick based on the book by Lois Duncan, starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Ryan Phillippe. It made almost $126,000,000 at the box office and became the 20th best selling movie of the year. A sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, was released in 1998, followed by a third entry, I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, in 2006.

  1. Couldn’t agree with you more. I hate it when people say I know is just an attempt at copying scream. I love both the movies and are 2 of my favourite movies but they aren’t even remotely similar other than the fact they are both slasher movies. It’s a brilliant film that is extremely underrated and almost forgotten about. I hope this reboot brings it back out into the open so it can get the recognition it deserves.
