Where Are They Now? : Kevin Zegers

wherearetheynowkz2This is going to be the last of my Where Are They Now? column before I hit you all with the massive updates on Halloween cast members, so I wanted to make this one someone you’ll really recognize.

Kevin Zegers was born in Ontario, Canada during September of 1984. He started acting at the young age of 6-years-old and is living proof that not all child stars are headed down a dismal road of addiction and self destruction. Despite being somewhat of a teen king throughout the years, some of his first acting roles were in horror and science fiction titles. Kevin can be seen as a kid in guest appearances on “Tales from the Cryptkeeper” in 1993 and “The X-Files” in 1995. He also had small roles in In the Mouth of Madness (1994) and scifi’s The Specimen (1996). Around this time Zegers started portraying Josh Fram in the popular, family comedy-drama franchise, Air Bud. The movies are basically about a dog that’s better at sports than any other human being alive. Kevin returned to almost ever movie in the series in 1997, 1998, 2001, and 2002. During his Air Bud years, he was also featured as lead and supporting roles in Shadow Builder (1998) and Komodo (1999).

When horror fans saw Kevin Zegers again, he had changed from an adolescent and into an adult. As a young man, he tackled even more lead and supporting roles that were a lot more gory and mature in horror titles that include Wrong Turn (2003), Fear of the Dark (2003), Dawn of the Dead (2004), and The Hollow (2004). He also appeared in the young Superman series, “Smallville” in 2003.

So, where is Kevin Zegers now?

Beginning at the end of 2004 he started to receive offers for more mainstream roles. These include a guest spot on “House M.D.” in 2004, a supporting role in the 2x Oscar Nominated Transamerica (2005), and the Tim Allen fronted Zoom (2006). Further solidifying his spot as a heartthrob, Kevin could also be seen in a recurring role on “Gossip Girl” from 2009 – 2011.

In between mainstream roles, Kevin has stuck around with the horror and scifi genres. He was the leading man in titles such as Adam Green’s Frozen (2010), Vampire (2011), The Colony (2013), The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013), and the upcoming Curse of Downers Grove (2015).
