I know this doesn’t really qualify as horror film news, but the upcoming fantasy docu-narrative The Green Fairy is going to have a few special key ingredients that may reel in the horror crowd. The film will showcase the history and evolution of absinthe, from the 1730s to the 1910s, as well as its whereabouts and uses in our current era of alcohol consumption.
The Green Fairy, which is currently in pre-production, announced today that the legendary, Oscar Nominated actress Linda Blair has officially signed onto the new movie in a supporting role. Linda is one of the biggest icons in the business and is most known for her hair-raising performance in The Exorcist and The Exorcist II. Ms. Blair will be playing Mrs. Lanfray, one of the many people fighting to ban absinthe before World War I.
Not only that, but – looking over the cast list – it looks like another familiar face will be playing a role opposite Linda Blair. Devanny Pinn, most known for her roles in Pocahauntus, 15 Til Midnight, The Black Dahlia Haunting, and Dead Sea, has also joined the cast of The Green Fairy. And it looks like she may be playing Linda Blair’s daughter in the feature. As one of the top rising horror starlets in the game, is there any bigger accomplishment than acting alongside a scream queen of this caliber?
Two more horror-centric cast members have been confirmed, too. The Green Fairy’s other horror cast mates are Mindy Robinson (The Haunting of Whaley House, V/H/S 2, Gingerdead Man vs. Evil Bong) and Russ Russo (Bikini Bloodbath, Bikini Bloodbath Car Wash, Donner Pass). Other cast members appearing in this docu-narrative include Richard Grieco (“21 Jump Stree”), WWE’s Roddy Piper, Robert Miano, Renzo Lewis, Trevor Snarr, Scot L. Schwartz, Garth Wynne-Jones, and Joshua Fredric Smith.
The Green Fairy is written by Daniel Celestina with Caroline Posada and is set to be directed by Dan Frank.
