This is just… wrong! Why would you make something like this and not keep it going? Seriously, Joss Whedon and Kuzui Entertainment need to contact this guy and get him to do a mini-series as soon as possible!

Ever since the iconic television series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” ended in 2003, fans of the Sarah Michelle Gellar fronted show have been clambering for any type of spin off they can get. “Buffy the Animated Series,” a kids version of the show was originally pitched in February of 2002. Created by Joss Whedon and Jeph Loeb, the pilot never found a home and was briefly re-examined in 2004 before being cancelled and shelved forever. Fans of Buffy can still find the opening scene, title credits, and a couple minutes of the pilot, titled ‘A Day in the Life’ on Youtube here.

And let’s not forget the dreadful “Buffy Season 8” motion comics that were briefly released in 2010.

Now, a very talented artist in Seattle by the name of Stephen Byrne has released his own version of the “Buffy Season 8” title sequence…and it is simply amazing. It looks like Mr. Byrne is both a computer animation genius and an artist who can create using tools like pencils and brushes. Most of his featured works involve prolific characters from noteworthy science fiction titles like Star Wars, The Avengers, and yes, “Buffy.”

His title sequence, called “The Animated Adventures of Buffy,” is making the rounds on the internet this week. It’s amassed almost 200,000 views on Youtube in just two days and has been featured in articles on huge media outlets including USA Toda, io9, and AVClub. I think the best part of them all is that, seeing how Stephen is a fan of the cult series, Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, has shared his video on her official Twitter page. Nicholas Brendon has shared it on his official Facebook. And Anthony Stewart Head even tweeted it to Joss Whedon begging him to hire the guy and put “The Animated Adventures of Buffy” into production.

At this rate, Stephen Byrne deserves all the attention he’s getting because he is truly a talented artist and his devotion to the series has really reignited the fire in the Buffy franchise. Plus, his animating skills are just as good as anything you’ll find on Cartoon Network. So, here’s hoping something can be worked out between Byrne, Whedon, and Cartoon Network. Or stream it on Hulu. Or Amazon. Or anything. Just give it to us!!!
