*See No Evil 2 hits all major retailers nationwide today! And I’m so happy that I was contacted about interviewing one of its stars, Kaj-Erik Eriksen. A lot of television buffs will remember him as David Scali on “The Commish,” or as Jeremy Peters on “Boston Public,” or as Danny Farrell on “The 4400.” I, however, realized that Kaj-Erik played Billy Harlan in Goosebumps’ “Welcome to Camp Nightmare!” The inner-child in me that I thought died years ago just came to the surface and started screaming! Not that I wasn’t excited to interview him in the first place, but this was the icing on the cake!
See No Evil 2 was easily one of the most anticipated releases of the year and is bound to be one of the most profitable straight-to-DVD titles, too. I knew that Kaj-Erik Eriksen would be very busy with the DVD release today, so I didn’t want to take up too much of his time. He was honorable enough to answer a few questions for me in reference to his time on set and his character in the movie, Seth, and you can read it all below.
HorrorSociety: With almost 50 professional credits to your resume, you’re no stranger to the horror and science fiction genres. Did you feel any nerves when you started the audition process for See No Evil 2?
Kaj-Erik: well, I’m not a huge fan of auditioning. It’s not that I get nervous it’s just that I’m not always comfortable in the room. It’s often an uncomfortable space, a lot of times you’re not reading the scenes with another actor. It’s just not always the best place to show your talents! But I really connected with my See No Evil 2 character Seth right away. The actual audition was probably my all-time favorite. The twins are just fantastic and I had a blast working the scene in the room with them. I knew right away they’d be an awesome creative force to work with.
HorrorSociety: Yes, the Soska Sisters are huge in the horror industry right now! Can you tell me if they were just as eager as you were to tackle this project?
Kaj-Erik: I’ve never seen anyone so excited about a project! The Soskas bring a crazy infectious energy to set. It made for a wonderful shoot! You have to remember that these gals live and breathe horror movies! The way they excitedly explain their direction to you just gets you amped up for a scene.
HorrorSociety: Had you seen the first See No Evil before filming began?
Kaj-Erik: I had seen bits of it way back when, but I re watched it before we started filming.
HorrorSociety: Who do you play in the movie? Can you tell me details about your character?
Kaj-Erik: I play Seth. Seth works in the morgue with Amy (played by Danielle Harris). He’s just a nice, earnest guy that has a bit of a crush on Amy.
HorrorSociety: What is it like sharing scenes with scream queen Danielle Harris and WWE Superstar Kane?
Kaj-Erik: Well, I’ve known Danielle since I was about 14! She played my girlfriend way back on “The Commish.” So we work well together and just jumped back into it. Working with Kane was fantastic! He has some great stuff in this movie. It was fun to go up against a WWE superstar!
HorrorSociety: If you had to pick any WWE Superstar or Diva to help you battle Jacob Goodnight, who would you choose and why?
Kaj-Erik: Against monstrous killer Jacob Goodnight?!? You ready for this?! This is gonna blow your mind… Kane! I figure he’s about the same size so we might stand a chance!
HorrorSociety: Besides fans of the first movie, The Soska Sisters, and The WWE, who do you think would get the biggest thrill out of See No Evil 2?
Kaj-Erik: I think this movie has a little bit for everybody! It has a lot of classic slasher movie elements, but it doesn’t follow the predictable horror movie mold. It’ll have some twists and turns that you won’t see coming. It’s also beautifully shot! The characters are interesting and uniquely individual.
