Horror Sales: First update of 2015.

HorrorSales

Horror, Scifi, Thriller Box Office Numbers, DVD Sales, and Television Viewership for the week of December 25, 2014 to January 1, 2015.

*Just a reminder as we start the new year, for box office numbers and DVD sales – the first number is the movie’s position this week and the second number is its position last week.

Box Office: Due to New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day we have another week of partial reports. Any – you see means I wasn’t able to find placement. The Woman in Black 2 hits theaters tonight and experts are estimating that it’ll make $10-12,000,000 opening week.
1 1 The Hobbit 3 $71,755,000 (Total: $198,857,000)
2 6 Into the Woods $57,053,000 (Total: $72,143,000)
4 2 Night at the Museum 3 $40,745,000 (Total: $75,256,000)
9 7 Exodus: Gods and Kings $11,775,000 (Total: $57,524,000)
14 13 Interstellar $5,958,000 (Total: $180,434,000)
23 25 Guardians of the Galaxy $216,000 (Total: $332,955,000)
– – The Maze Runner $179,000 (Total: $102,085,000)
31 – The Babadook $117,000 (Total: $664,000)
– – The Pyramid $21,000 (Total: $2,691,000)

DVD Top 20: Sales for the current week. It’s sad, there aren’t any legitimate horror titles on the chart this week. They’re all just science fiction movies and suspense thrillers.
1 1 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
3 2 Guardians of the Galaxy
6 3 Into the Storm
9 5 Left Behind
12 9 Maleficent
16 11 The Giver
20 15 Earth to Echo

Television Viewership: The last big holiday of the season, most of the shows are still on hiatus. There are clearly a lot of reruns on air, but I also found numbers for special doc-series and new TNT series, The Librarians. Trust me, it’s not as dorky as it sounds. It’s pretty much a more professionally done Warehouse 13.
The Librarians – 4,096,000
Stalker (rerun) – 3,940,000
Gotham (rerun) – 1,880,000
The Flash (rerun) – 1,840,000
Sleepy Hollow (rerun) – 1,151,000
Supernatural (rerun) – 1,270,000
Revelation: End of Days – 1,056,000
Murder Comes to Town – 936,000
The Originals (rerun) – 720,000
