Year: The Series – Prologue Episode and Crowd Funding.

untitled

“Year,” a zombie web-series filmed in Canada, released its first episode ‘Prologue’ a week ago. I’m struck by the production quality of this project because it seems very high for just a web-series. From the special effects to the acting to the cinematography – “Year” is one of the best viral projects out there right now. Written by Adam Clark and Dave Lam and directed by Tomask Kurek, ‘Prologue’ is the first episode of a five part first season where the episodes are broken up by Earth’s seasons – winter, spring, summer, and fall. Unlike “The Walking Dead” where it’s always humid, it’ll be interesting to see how the survivors in “Year” tackle zombies while dealing with the dangers that an ever changing environment provides.

You can watch ‘Prologue’ for yourself at the bottom of this post.

With the first episode officially available for viewing, the team behind “Year” have started to crowd fund for the remaining four episodes. I’m not surprised by this. As I said above, the production quality here is top notch and it must be too expensive to pay out of pocket. A Kickstarter campaign has been launched in support of “Year” and the fundraiser ends in 19 days. The producers are looking to raise $50,000 and as of this typing they’ve only accumulated $2,700 of their goal. It is dire that you donate because with Kickstarter – it’s all or nothing! Are you a zombie enthusiast? Do you want to help independent filmmakers achieve their dreams? Then donate to the “Year” campaign today. One of the awesome prizes is the chance to be drawn into the accompanying comic book illustrated by John MacKenzie Graham!

Click here to donate: $40 is the best perk because it gets you a special thanks in the next episode, an mp3 of the series’ original score, and a digital download of the comic book.
