It’s funny. A few days ago I found a blog entry I wrote just after being recruited to write for www.HorrorSociety.com in January 2011. I was so excited because “the website has 9,400 followers on Facebook! That’s so many people who will read my posts!” Fast forward to a little over four years later and this website has passed a huge milestone. As of today we’ve officially passed the 100,000 followers mark. That is a tremendous achievement, especially when there are so many new sites out there you could be following, and I wanted to take a moment to thank you.
I know that guys you favorite the site for reasons that resonate with your personal interests. Mac Brewer is one of the most popular indie horror film reviewers. Michael Juvinall is the go to man for anything comic book and horror history related. Michael Christopher Jones runs the podcast where you can hear live interviews with celebrities without our community. Me? I think I bring the most mainstream news to the website, offering articles that are often infused with pop culture and straight-to-DVD success stories. Then there’s Mitchell Wells, our leader, who blasts out press release after press release after press release from every company around the world. We work for hard for this website.
So, every time you “like” one of our posts or share it on your page… Every time you comment on one of the memes or conversation starters… Every time you tag us in a post on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, you’re helping to grow our fan base and you’re giving us the fire we need to continue on our journey to the top. Something so simple as a “like” or a share goes such a long way in a world where social media is the best promoter. Without all of you, we wouldn’t be in the position that we’re in. We wouldn’t have the credibility and the experience that we do. We wouldn’t have the respect and the following that we do. I think all of us would continue writing for HorrorSociety even if our fans dwindled to 17,000, but never-the-less… The gratitude we have for you for getting us to 100,000 followers on Facebook is immeasurable.
Again, I just wanted to say thank you for the love and support these past few years. Thank you for reading what we do. Thank you for being kick ass independent horror fans! Thank you for helping us pass this milestone in the history of our website.
