Amy Humphries (Executive Creative Media Director at Malevolent Magazine) has informed me of the plans for The Hollywood Horror Museum! While we see fundraising for a variety of things these days, this is a truly worthwhile cause to keep some of the most sacred pieces of our genres history preserved for future generations to see. Please read the excerpts below from the Kickstarter page, watch the video and follow the links to read more and donate to make this happen!

“The purpose of this Kickstarter is to raise the initial funds to develop The Hollywood Horror Museum, to obtain a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational status in California and present our first Walk Through Exhibit at Stan Lee’s Comikaze in Los Angeles Oct 30-Nov 1.”*

“By mid 2016, we plan to take our Hollywood Horror Museum on a worldwide tour, until we have the money to create a permanent location in North Hollywood California in 2018.”*

“In March of 2015, when our Hollywood Science Fiction Museum www.hollywoodscifi.org was preparing for its 2016 exhibit, many Sci-Fi/Horror film props were offered to us including Alien and John Carpenter’s The Thing. It became apparent these gory props had no place in a science fiction museum that taught NASA space and real science through sci-fi. But since there is no nonprofit educational Horror Museum anywhere in the world that teaches filmmaking, special effects, makeup and the history of horror in films, TV, art and literature, we decided to create our own.”*

“The props included in our 2016-2018 traveling exhibit will depend on the space we are given from 8,000-20,000 square feet, but our permanent museum in tentatively 2018 will be enormous. We will constantly be looking for new items to add to our displays from private collections as well as productions studios and SPFX companies.”*

“Permanent exhibits will include props and displays from: CLASSIC MONSTERS, CREATURES, ZOMBIES, GHOSTS, VAMPIRES, MUMMIES, WEREWOLVES, ITALIAN HORROR. PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR, ALFRED HITCHCOCK, STEPHEN KING, The Art of Special Effects, and the Gallery of Nightmares, which will include the most horrifying creatures of all time.”*

“The Hollywood Horror Museum is meant to appeal to all ages, from those with a casual, to extreme interest in horror, to film historians and “gore hounds.” Mature display rooms with excess blood, gore and sexuality will have warning signs at the doors. Makeup classes will be taught daily, with artists from the top Hollywood make up schools and shops, showing guests the process of creating special effects: from drawing, sculpting, molding, painting, applying and more.”*
