It’s with great sadness that I must announce the death of horror/fantasy writer Nick Kisella. Nick passed away at his home Wednesday morning, October 28th after suffering from a torn aorta. His tragic passing has left the horror circle in New Jersey and Pennsylvania in a state of shock, as the author was just in appearance last weekend at the world renowned Chiller Theatre Convention Expo in Parsippany where he was vending his latest book, “The Eyes of the Jackal.”

Kisella grew up in Manville, New Jersey before moving to his last location, Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania. The man started writing stories in high school, eventually publishing pieces in independent magazines like Dreadknight and The Nocturnal Lyric. His first novel, “The Emerald and the Blade” was published in 1989 and was the start of a long career in the writing industry; a career which saw him publishing over two dozen original works, most through Black Bed Sheet Books.

His most popular novels include “Morningstar,” “The Beasts and the Walking Dead” and “Crossing Lines.” He also carved a niche for himself by adapting directors’ feature films into books, as seen with “I Spill Your Guts” from James Balsamo and “Mary Horror” from Ryan Scott Weber. Interesting enough, Kisella would make a cameo in the “Mary Horror” feature film sequel, Witches Blood.

He won the Horror Society Award for “Best Book or Comic” in 2014 with his partnership with horror actress Deana Demko, “Lilith’s Apple.”

Nick Kisella was also a fitness instructor with over 20 years of experience and manufactured his own delicious chocolate. He leaves behind a loving wife, Kimberly, and 5-year-old twins. A gofundme page has been created in his name to help his family with funeral costs. Click here to make it possible for all of his family, friends and fans to show their final respects.
