To Our Readers: Here’s The Last Thank You of 2015.

hs2015

To Our Readers:

Having been employed at HorrorSociety.com for five years now, I have to say that 2015 is going to go down as our biggest year yet. Using the fancy “insight” function on Facebook, I can see that we started the year with 90,000 subscribers on January 1, 2015 and now we’re closing out the year with 322,000. That’s literally 232,000 new readers in one year alone, not to mention all of our new readers that aren’t accounted for on Twitter, Instagram and the main resource – www.horrorsociety.com. I am proud to say that this exponential growth in fandom has propelled us into the top 10 horror websites on the world wide web, although, we’ll always be a little biased in saying that we’re the best in terms of content! But, really, every “like” and “follow” pushes us one step closer to world domination. It’s a little gesture on your part, one that takes only a second, but it means the world to us. We work hard for you. So, thank you for the support.

While all of us have shared too many press releases to count, it’s fair to say that all of us here have pitched in to build HorrorSociety.com into the beast that it is today.

Mac Brewer and myself (Michael DeFellipo) have worked diligently to bring you the most honest reviews, ones that saw us published 50+ times on the cover of independent horror film festival favorites, straight-to-DVD titles, foreign films, and promo materials. Hell, some of our quotes have even made into commercials and official trailers for After Dark Horror Films this year! There’s nothing better than walking into the film & television section of a store, or browsing Amazon.com, and coming across your work published on something available to the masses. What’s even better is knowing our opinion is respected enough to grace covers world wide. Thank you to the readers for sharing our reviews, and thank you to the distributors for valuing our words.

Michael Juvinall has continued his streak as the most knowledgeable source at HorrorSociety.com, with his “Died on This Day,” “Born on This Day” and “Films Released on This Day” columns educating reader – both old and new – on the history of horror. Juvinall also stepped out of his comfort zone this year and brought you some of the best, exclusive interviews with people you may have heard of including Bruce Campbell, Adam Green and Michael Rooker. Speaking of interviews, Michael Christopher Jones continued to produce his own podcast, “The Calling Hour,” which was finally added to iTunes and Stitcher. During the podcasts, Jones takes fan calls, conducts interviews, promos music and much more! Find it on iTunes under Horror Society Radio!

I would personally like to thank HorrorSociety’s commander-in-chief Mitchell Wells for keeping HorrorSociety alive every year. He has a full time job, a growing family and he still finds the time to maintain the website. I don’t think anyone realizes how much time he puts into developing the website, trying new plug-ins and layouts to better serve his staff AND make things better looking for the readers. He’s kind of the unsung hero of this page, which is why I would like to sing his praises now. He’s extremely protective of all of the contributors here – and the readers – and takes all of our opinions into consideration when making decisions. Trust me, it’s got to be difficult for him to keep four grown men from killing each other several times a month. He’s the boss anyone would want to have and I’m thankful and grateful to work for him.

We’re all so grateful to all of our readers, subscribers and fans, too. I think I can speak freely for all of us – Mitchell, Mac, Mike CJ, Mike J and myself – when I say that we have the best supporters out there. We enjoy the conversations, we relish in the dramatic bickering, and we are enamored with the amount of positive feedback you all us. We truly wouldn’t be kicking as much ass as we are now if it wasn’t for the thousands of you clicking on the page daily. The best thing is: we all work so hard and are actually rewarded for our efforts with your support and online-friendship. That means the world to us. So many genuine thank you’s to you.

So, here’s to 2015 – our best year yet! Stay tuned, though. We’re about to bring you another monumental year, starting with the annual Horror Society Awards coming early 2016. See you in the new year!

Michael DeFellipo & Mitchell Wells
