Buy A Frame, Make A Movie: The Marshall Family Unleashes Killer Campaign Idea.

I’m usually not into horror movies that deal with torture because I just feel like that method of madness isn’t fair to the victims. Then again, can I name something that happens to characters in a movie that’s ever fair? No. In the case of The Marshall Family, there are actually two reasons why I’m excited that this title is officially in pre-production. Firstly, it’s the debut feature film of Shane Michaels, a filmmaker that I’ve had my eye on for three years. Secondly, it serves as Sierra Holmes’ horror film return, the “Scream Queens” actress having taken a two year break from performing to explore other career opportunities outside of the entertainment industry.

And, it’s currently got Bill Oberst Jr. attached to play one of the leads; so I guess I have three reasons why I’m excited.

Shane Michaels will direct and produce The Marshall Family under his company Blood & Guts Pictures in association with AnyTek Productions based on the screenplay by Ashley Borer, Stephen Corron, Cindy Hutchins and Brentt Slabchuck. Corron will also co-produce alongside Michael Vallier II.

Synopsis: “Local sheriff Rick Marshall and his family sit down to what they believe to be their nightly family dinner, but the interrupting ring of the doorbell brings the picture perfect family down a dead end road. Rick opens the door and greets Tripp, the plumber who is hours late, but still invites him in to fix their plumbing and even offers him a seat at their table. But Tripp has a different agenda; soon the family becomes hostages within their own home faced with secrets, lies and truths during the duration of the family’s night from Hell.”

The Marshall Family is currently in the midst of an IndieGoGo Campaign in hopes of raising extra funds to go towards production. Sure, the fundraiser has all the typical perks – social media shout outs, wallpapers, posters, special thanks credits, signed scripts, soundtracks, tickets to the premiere – but it also gives you the opportunity to purchase frames and clips of the film way in advance, basically a way for you to see that your money went to producing this 70’s/80’s styled horror-thriller. You’ll notice that The Marshall Family has an extremely high goal, somewhere close to $250,000, which is a huge milestone to reach on a platform like IndieGoGo. Speaking with Sierra Holmes, the Piranha 3DD cast member explains, “The Marshall Family is going to be a great horror movie. The high goal is just to put it on the map and, for us, it’s go big or go home because we really believe in this title. If we hit our goal, great, but if we miss it by any mark, we’ll still be thrilled with whatever was raised.”
