So far this month I have watched some exploitation, blaxploitation, drama, comedies, and a few sleazy sexploitation flicks. I decided to mix it up this time and venture to the Vinegar Syndrome catalog. They have released some very unique films over the years. They have partnered with Troma to release some of their more unique films on blu like Luther the Geek, Pigs, and so on. They also release some of the most important blaxpoitation films with more scheduled to be released. If you have read any of my reviews in the past then you know just how much I fucking love blaxploitation.
On top of all that, Vin Syn is known for their exploitation and sexploitation films. Today I decided to check out their unusual sexploitation flick Sex and Astrology which was released in 1971. I was surprised by how informative the film was. Once again, thanks Vin Syn for sending this one my way.
**Spoiler Alert**The film follows Venus and her annual get together. This party is long and takes one year to complete. We then get to see all twelve of the zodiac signs where we learn their different personality traits before we are introduced to what they enjoy in the bed room…and don’t enjoy. The film ends when all twelve zodiac signs have been explained and everyone has busted a nut.**Spoiler Alert**
I was under the impression that this would be a tradition sexploitation/vintage porn but I was wrong. Instead, this was a very informative softcore piece of cinema. The film feels like a parody of different documentaries while delivering a raunchy good time.
The acting in this one is non-existent. The cast foolishly dances around set before stripping down their clothes and fucks it out. This was a softcore porn first and foremost with the story coming later.
The story for this one is surprisingly entertaining but does somewhat feel out of place even though the title fits well with the sex. They go pretty in depth about the zodiac signs and their sway on the personalities of those born under the sign. They then go in depth on how that signs predicts their sex life.
Finally, those of you looking for action, laughs, or gore will not be happy with this one. This little flick is very story driven and full of sex but that is it. If you are looking for anything else then check out another Vin Syn release. Overall, Sex and Astrologyis a very informative flick that may lack humor, action, and gore but has a very interesting story that will hold the viewer’s attention. This film deserves at least one watch.
