“The Knick” Actor Grainger Hines Set to Star in Indie Drama The Final Interview,
the Latest Project from Underground Horror Icon Fred Vogel

Veteran character actor Grainger Hines, best known for his recent turn on Steven Soderbergh’s Cinemax series “The Knick,” is set to star in the upcoming indie drama The Final Interview, directed by underground horror film legend Fred Vogel. Diane Franklin (Better off Dead), Bingo O’Malley (Out of the Furnace) and Damien Maruscak (Sella Turcica) also star. Filming begins August 8th in and around Pittsburgh.

Hines will play Oliver Ross, an alcoholic newscaster desperate for ratings that secures an interview with a cunning, manipulative murderer on death row—the night of the execution.

Vogel and his wife Shelby, alongside Ross Putman, whose film First Girl I Loved most recently won the NEXT Audience Award at Sundance, are producing the film.

Fred Vogel began his career with the controversial horror film August Underground, often considered both a pioneer in the found-footage genre and one of the most disturbing horror films ever made. He’s since directed a half dozen features including The Redsin Tower and Sella Turcica, all shot in and around his hometown of Pittsburgh.

“Grainger is an incredible talent and the perfect person to bring Oliver Ross to life,” said Vogel. “I’m looking forward to telling this dark tale and do something a bit different with The Final Interview, and I’m thrilled to be making the film with him in the lead.”
