With a mission to screen innovative and imaginative films, the Fantastic Cinema and Craft Beer Festival is now seeking submissions from bold visionaries who are not afraid to do what it takes to create films that challenge, inspire, and ultimately thrill audiences. These fantastic films will be presented alongside the very best craft beer from the state of Arkansas for audience and filmmaker refreshment. The third year of this successful festival looks to include an even broader mix of Animation, Dark Comedy, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror, and everything in between—while further incorporating local craft beer throughout the screenings and festival.

The 2016 Fantastic Film Festival screened films hot off world premieres at festivals such as SXSW and Sundance Film Festival. “The Smiling Man,” last year’s Best Short Film winner was picked up by Crypt TV where it has been viewed over 5 million times.

Joshua Millican, Director of Community for Crypt TV praised the festival as, “An event worth traveling to. I’m already planning for next year’s fest and encouraging all of my genre-loving friends to attend. I can’t wait to see how Fantastic Cinema and Craft Beer fest grows; it should definitely be considered one of the country’s premier film festivals!” Filmmaker and Managing Editor of “Shock Till You Drop,” Chris Alexander had this to say, “Amazing, interesting people. A diverse selection of films. Ambitious. Upbeat. A great place to watch strange cinema and hang out with people who, like us, eat, sleep and breathe movies. Can’t wait to go back!”

The festival is proud to welcome Derek Horne to the programming team as Director of Short Film Programming. Derek has programmed numerous film festivals over the years and currently serves as Director of Short Film Programming at Annapolis Film Festival, the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, and programmer for the DC Shorts Film Festival. He was Director of Talent Relations at Magnet Media, a production company and interactive marketing firm, and worked in the Filmmaker Services Department at Sundance Film Festival for six years, and was the Film Coordinator at Chapman University’s film school for ten years.
