If anything is delayed more than movies, it’s video games. The third season of TellTale Games’ The Walking Dead was originally announced in June 2016 with an anticipated release of episode one in early November. Since that date has come and gone, it was recently announced that this new journey of Clementine’s will officially begin when The Walking Dead: A New Frontier launches on December 20, 2016. As always, episodes will debut as digital downloads with physical copies being released later in the year. The third season’s first episode in the lucrative and critically acclaimed video game series will be made available on February 7, 2017 on PC, XBox One, PS4, XBox 360, iOs and PS3.

Now set four years after the start of the zombie apocalypse, players will navigate the world of the undead as new hero Javier, a young man trying to find his family who somehow bumps into the game’s recurring star, Clementine. Co-founder and CEO of Telltale Games tells a source: “This third new season will serve as both a continuation of what’s come before in our story, as well as an all-new beginning set nearly four years after the outbreak events of season one. A New Frontier will explore beyond what it means to survive in a world ravaged by the undead, and will see our characters confronting the new rules of order and justice in a land being brutally reclaimed and rediscovered by what’s left of humanity itself.”

What’s great for fans of the hit AMC television series, page turning comic book series and popular video game franchise is that it appears the timelines in all platforms may meet up at some point which leads the way for a crossover of sorts. Robert Kirkman tells GamenGuide: “Season three will actually be getting pretty close to where we are in the comics currently — like the books that are coming out now are roughly in the same time frame that season three will be in. It’ll definitely go hand in hand with the comics a little bit more than season two did.” Let’s just hope Clementine doesn’t get a bat to the head…
