The New York Science Fiction Film Festival held its inaugural event this past weekend and has announced its full slate of award winners, all of which are recognized for superior filmmaking and as bold contributions to independent science fiction cinema. The event debuted to much success and delighted audiences from January 20-22, 2017 at four prestigious venues and is pleased to have become a platform in New York City’s lustrous film society.
Awards were presented to:
- Teleios by Ian Truitner for Best Science Fiction Feature
- Uncanny Harbor by Nicholas Valaskatgis for Best Science Fiction Short
- Gehenna: Where Death Lives by Hiroshi Katagiri for Best Horror Feature
- April the 6th by Mark Hammett for Best Horror Short
- I, Philip by Pierre Zandrowicz for Best Virtual Reality Experience
- Glimpse by Eric Medina for Best Latino, African American or Person of Color Drama
- How to Build a Time Machine by Jay Cheel for Best Documentary
- Dryad by Thomas Vernay for Best Fantasy Film
- Super Science Friends by Brett Jubinville for Best Animation Film
- Agent9 by Jeff Schultz for Best Web Series
- Monochrome by Kodi Zene for Best Trailer
