Lea Michele Will NOT Return to ‘Scream Queens’ if FOX Series Gets a Third Season.

It was announced yesterday that actress and singer Lea Michele will not be returning to FOX’s comedy-horror series “Scream Queens” should the Ryan Murphy production get a third and final season. From nerd in a neck-brace, to posh co-conspirator, to Hannibal Lecter-esque villain, Michele played the role of Hester Ulrich in every episode of “Scream Queens” – all 23 of them – from 2015 to 2016. The news that the singer, whose debut solo single reached #75 on the Hot 100 in 2013, was released from her contract is a sign that “Scream Queens” may in fact be cancelled considering Lea is one of Ryan Murphy’s It Girls.

“Scream Queens” started off strong in September 2015 with about 4,100,000 viewers tuning in for its premiere episode. Due to a lack of horror, lack of comedy outside of dirty gags, early killer reveals, killing off canon fodder characters and other problematic equations, “Scream Queens” lost about a third of its viewership by its season one finale in December 2015. When it returned for season two in September 2016 it reached a series low of 2,150,000 viewers and ended season two with a finale of just 1,317,000 viewers. Though DVR numbers usually added between 300-400,000 more viewers to each episode, “Scream Queens” is definitely a bomb for FOX and it stands on the edge of cancellation, and I think the ax will come down on it very soon.

Supposedly, Lea is making the move to ABC where she will join the cast of a half hour comedy series about an up and coming rap artist who is elected mayor of his city in a bid to gain more attention on his new mix tape.
