I was going to start this article with a Lil Wayne reference, but I doubt most of my readers would be receptive to a pop culture reference from 2009, or – ya know – Lil Wayne in general. With a title that brings back memories of gymnasiums on fire, the upcoming feature film Prom Queen aims to be more Prom Night than Carrie with a little bit of When A Stranger Calls thrown in. Prom Queen will follow a former high school socialite, now on the verge of a midlife crisis, as a former flame attempts to re-enter her life with deadly consequences. Prom Queen is being created and produced by several gentlemen who are well known in the world of independent horror cinema. This upcoming psychological-thriller and slasher-drama is written by Jason Harlow and Noah Nicholas Nelson. Prom Queen will serve as Nelson’s full length directorial debut while Harlow is known for Cleaver: Rise of the Killer Clown and the upcoming sequel Another Evil Night. Nelson and Harlow will also produce alongside Don’t Go to the Reunion‘s Cody Landman and Kevin Sommerfield.

In anticipation of this venture, an IndieGoGo campaign was launched to secure extra funding to make Prom Queen the best it can be. Sources close to the film confirm that they will shoot this feature whether or not their goal is met, but the $2,000 they raise will only enhance the final product that’ll be watched by you – the horror audience.
