John Goodman Stars in Participant Media’s CAPTIVE STATE. Here’s Your First Look!

In the near future John Goodman will (somehow?) return as Dan Conner in the Netflix “Roseanne” reboot, but right now he’s starring in another futuristic project from Participant Media. His new film, Captive State, recently wrapped production in Chicago, Illinois and the behind-the-scenes team is already gearing up for a major promotional push despite the science fiction-thriller not being scheduled to hit United States movie theaters until August 17, 2018.

A Golden Globe and Emmy Award recipient, John Goodman is most known for his big roles and voice overs in Barton Fink, The Flintstones, The Jungle Book 2, The Artist, The Big Lebowski, Argo, Flight and Monsters University; though he’s tackled roles in our favorite genres with titles such as C.H.U.D., Arachnophobia and Red State. Recently, he starred in 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) and Kong: Skull Island (2017, which opened at #2 and #1 at the box office. Captive State aims to be another hit on his science-fiction resume!

Captive State is directed by Rupert Wyatt – who previous worked with Goodman in 2014 with The Gambler. Based on the script that Wyatt wrote with Erica Beeney, Captive State sees a Chicago neighborhood a decade after a deadly occupation by extra-terrestrials. The film promises to “explore the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents.” Ashton Sanders (Moonlight), Jonathan Majors and Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Vera Farmiga also star.

Captive State is produced by Wyatt and David Crockett with executive producers Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King. The film is being presented by Focus Features, who have graciously provided the screen cap above.
