FANTASIA 2017 – NEW SCREENINGS ANNOUNCED
NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE OF TAKASHI MIIKE’S BLADE OF THE IMMORTAL AND A SPECIAL FREE SCREENING OF GEORGE ROMERO’S THE CRAZIES (IN 4K)

Montreal, Quebec, July 25, 2017 – The Fantasia International Film Festival, currently underway at Montreal’s Concordia University, is very proud to announce two additional exciting late addition titles to its stellar 2017 lineup!

First up is the North American Premiere of Takashi Miike’s acclaimed Cannes 2017 selection BLADE OF THE IMMORTAL, as an unbelievably wild return to samurai cinema from one of Japan’s most prolific directors. His 100th film, Miike has crafted a modern masterpiece set in a bygone time, peppered with all of the wild characters, buckets of blood, and incredible FX work he will be forever known for.

The staff at Fantasia has also chosen to honor the recent passing of horror icon George A. Romero with a very special free screening of the master’s 1973 shocker THE CRAZIES, lovingly restored by Arrow Video and presented in stunning digital 4K. The festival’s screening of this often-overlooked classic serves as a unique opportunity for mourning lifelong fans and new blood still discovering the breadth of Romero’s incredible work to share time together and celebrate the life of an all-time cinema great.

THE CRAZIES will screen for free at 9:30PM on Friday, July 28th. BLADE OF THE IMMORTAL will screen at 9:35PM on Monday, July 31, with tickets for it available online and at the festival’s box office.

Fantasia is currently celebrating its 21st Anniversary in Montreal this summer, and runs through August 2.
