MIDNIGHT MADNESS SELECTION DEBUTS POSTER AND INTENSE FIRST-LOOK CLIP
Eleven Arts is proud to debut the poster for Ryuhei Kitamura’s DOWNRANGE, along with an intense first-look clip from the hotly-anticipated film
Earlier today, the poster and terrifying first-look clip debuted exclusively at Collider. The highly-buzzed dark new thriller World Premieres on Friday night as part of The Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness section. It is directed by Ryuhei Kitamura (The Midnight Meat Train, Versus), and stars newcomer Kelly Connaire, Stephanie Pearson (Insidious: Chapter 2), Rod Hernandez-Farella, Anthony Kirlew, Alexa Yeames (The CW’s The Originals), and Jason Tobias (ABC Television’s Notorious).
Produced by Kitamura and ELEVEN ARTS’ Ko Mori (Lords of Chaos, Man From Reno, Uzumasa Limelight), DOWNRANGE is executive produced by Taro Maki (In This Corner of the World). Screenplay is by Joey O’Bryan (Motorway, Fulltime Killer), with story by O’Bryan and Kitamura.
In the film, six college students are carpooling cross-country when one of their tires blows out on a desolate stretch of country road. Getting out to fix the flat, they quickly discover that this was no accident. The tire was shot out. With their vehicle incapacitated, the group is pinned down and mercilessly attacked by an unseen assailant as they desperately attempt to find a way to escape.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR Ryuhei Kitamura: Born in Osaka, Japan and raised in Australia, director Ryuhei Kitamura now resides in Los Angeles, California. Bursting onto the film scene with with 2000’s Versus, Kitamura achieved international fame through a series of wildly adventurous, violent features, including the box office smashes Azumi (2003) and Godzilla: Final Wars (2004). In 2008, he directed his first American film, Midnight Meat Train, starring Bradley Cooper, and in 2012, directed Luke Evans in WWE Studios’ No One Lives. His next film, Doorman, will star Katie Holmes and Jean Reno, and is slated to begin photography in early 2018.
