Jamie Lee Curtis Returns to Haddonfield in Blumhouse’s Halloween 2018.

It was just announced via Twitter – of all places – that scream queen legend Jamie Lee Curtis is returning to the Halloween franchise. A new movie, currently titled just Halloween, is in the works through Blumhouse, Miramax, Trancas and Rough House Pictures with an October 19, 2018 release on the slate. The new movie is written by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride with Green also taking his seat at the director’s chair. John Carpenter will executively produce and is in talks to score the picture.

According to The Hollywood reporter, the announcement went exactly like this:

Blumhouse Productions: “Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode in HALLOWEEN, released by Universal Pictures October 19, 2018. #HalloweenMovie.”

Jamie Lee Curtis: “Same porch. Same clothes. Same issues. 40 years later. Headed back to Haddonfield one last time for Halloween.”

Previous reports in regards to this highly anticipated movie stated that it will follow the storyline of the first two entries in the franchise, and Carpenter even gave the script his blessings.

Curtis previously starred as Laurie Strode, Michael Myers’ sister, in Halloween, Halloween 2, Halloween: H20 and Halloween: Resurrection. Laurie Strode’s life came to an end by the masked killer’s knife at the beginning of the last movie, so it’ll be interesting to see how that big deal is rectified when Halloween hits theaters on October 19, 2018.
