Emiliano Ranzani Announces Italian Horror’s BLOOD BAGS.

Blood Bags is a modern take on classic Italian horror cinema. The movie is written and directed by Emiliano Ranzani, a filmmaker and cinematographer, whose work includes Langliena – Una Storia Macabra, a multi-award winning short movie praised by cult filmmakers and authors such as Stuart Gordon, Ramsey Campbell and Richard Stanley: the latter later invited Emiliano to collaborate with him, as co-writer and second-unit director, on the segment Mother of Toads from the anthology film The Theatre Bizarre. After writing and lensing the shocker Morgue Street for fellow Italian director Alberto Viavattene, Ranzani has recently completed recently Miriam, a short movie blending horror together with neo-noir elements and a recipient of the Best Short Movie prize at the Independent Horror Movie Awards 2015.

The screenplay was written by the director in collaboration with Davide Mela, a producer and writer whose recent credits include the web-series Smile!, produced by Showlab in collaboration with RAI. The english dialogues have been edited by Scarlett Amaris, a LA-based screenwriter and author of several fantasy novels.  The cinematographer, Alessandro Mattiolo, is a young, Turin-based lighting cameraman with an extensive background in commercials, music videos and TV-series. The special make-up and gore effects will be handled by Roberto Mestroni, a veteran of the industry with a career spanning over thirty years and credits that include Eros Pugliesi’s neo-thriller Occhi di Cristallo.

With principal photography having wrapped in July 2017, Blood Bags is scheduled to compete post-production by the end of the year.

While hiking on the hills around Torino with her friend Petra, she comes across the ancient mansion: charmed by the place’s allure, Tracy manages to sneak in through an open window despite Petra’s initial resistance. While her friend is busy taking pictures, Petra is brutally assassinated by the same entity that killed Tony the night before. Upon discovering the girl’s mutilated body, Tracy hurries to the window they came in, only to find it sealed with barbwire.
