Darren Field Spreads Creepy Christmas Cheer in New Vault of the Macabre Video.

Author and writer Darren J. Field is back with another installment in his Vault of the Macabre video series. This time, he’s releasing Christmas Cheer in celebration of the upcoming holiday.

His video series always includes readings of his unique, original poems and short stories, but Christmas Cheer is something different from the aspects of style and mood. It’s shot entirely in black and white, and comprised of clips from 1935’s holiday classic Scrooge as well as fan photos with Santa. Darren explains, “I wanted to create a very Victorian feel – especially with the ghost stories – and using the footage from Scrooge was a bit of a risk as it could have just looked cobbled together. It was an experiment, but I’m very pleased with how it turned out. I really put myself out there in order to grow as a film-maker and writer.”

This idea can also be heard with Christmas Cheer’s narration. Usually, Field enlists Hollywood heavyweights to provide voice-overs for his short film showcases, but this time he’s the sole provider of each poem. How do you think he did? Watch & listen to Vault of the Macabre Christmas Cheer below. And if you like what you hear, more original Christmas horror stories are available in Darren’s new book.
