Blood Scream Comics to Release Paul Naschy’s Licantropo Issue #1.


Dayton, Ohio based independent comic book company Sparkle Comics is proud to announce the release of Licantropo Issue #1 on its Blood Scream Comics imprint. The 28-page comic is the first of a two issue story adapted from the 1996 Spanish werewolf film written by Jacinto Molina, directed by Francisco Rodriguez Gordillo and starring Paul Naschy.

“It’s Blood Scream Comics mission to deliver high quality horror comics to our readers,” says Sparkle Comics editor-in-chief and co-owner Matthew Brassfield. “And it’s an honor to share this part of the Waldemar Daninsky story immortalized in film by Paul Naschy.”

Licantropo Issue #1 features artwork and story adaptation from Spanish comic book artist Marc Gras Cots, known for his work on Bloke’s Terrible Tomb of Terror, and cover artwork from US-based artist Jason Gilmore, cover artist and colorist for Sparkle Comics and writer/artist for Blood Scream Comics’ The Sadness Issue #0.

“With Jason Gilmore’s cover setting the tone and Marc Gras Cots’ stunning artwork, this comic is sure to please new and longtime fans of the Naschy werewolf series,” says Brassfield.

With a print run of 500 copies, Licantropo Issue #1 will go on-sale in person on March 24 as part of Sparkle Comics’ appearance at Dayton, Ohio’s Gem City Comic Con. It will go on sale in Ohio comic book stories and online at on March 28. Licantropo Issue #2 is planned for release in May, 2018 and will be followed by other titles based on Paul Naschy’s Waldemar Daninsky series.

Blood Scream Comics is the horror imprint of Dayton, Ohio based Sparkle Comics, an independent comic book company founded in 2016 whose motto is “comics made by friends for fans.” Blood Scream focuses on original horror titles and adaptations of and stories based on independent horror films.
