Neon Nightmare Automata 50% Funded In Just Five Days

Less than a week into the Kickstarter campaign for their new gothic chiller, Automata, the Hex Studios team have raised over half of their £80,000 ($114,000) goal.

According to director Lawrie Brewster, “I think this just proves that audiences are hungrier than ever for original horror. It’s a very exciting time to be a creator in the genre, from seeing The Shape of Water and Get Out sweep the Oscars, to the huge commercial success of A Quiet Place. The future of horror looks bright, and we’re so grateful for the incredible support we’ve had. It’s this kind of grass-roots backing that allows us to make these edgy, strange, original films.”

Automata centres around an infamous clockwork doll known as ‘The Infernal Princess’, created in the 1700s and long believed to be cursed. When antiques expert Dr. Brendan Cole is called in to authenticate the legendary automaton, he soon begins to uncover its dark secrets…

The trailer’s beautiful, brightly-coloured visuals call to mind Argento’s Suspiria, with a classic gothic feel harking back to the films of Hammer, and a creeping dread that fans have come to expect with Hex Studios productions.

There’s still plenty of time to contribute to the crowdfunder, and lots of fun perks on offer, so check out their Kickstarter page, and get pledging! Check it out here: https://kck.st/2JygnzE.

Automata is an international co-production between Hex Studios and partners Dark Dunes Productions, in association with Needle’s Eye Productions, and producers Charles Stiefel, Nick Ford, Greg Orsi, Richard Pate, Rhiannon L. Crothers, Matt Orefice, Morten Wisting and Zeke Hanson.
