Return to Woodsboro in This FAN MADE Scream 5 Trailer. Do You Want a New Movie?

The Scream franchise has been on a roller coaster ride since Scream 4 was a modest success overseas but failed to turn a profit in America back in 2011. Despite the box office grimace, fans were begging for the proposed new trilogy to continue, even if it meant following the aftermath of the last massacre through the character of Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere), who was wounded but still squirming when the cameras changed direction. Although The Weinstein Brothers fueled the fire until September 2013, a cap was put on the idea when it was announced that franchise creator Wes Craven would executive produce a scripted series on MTV and that, according to Bob Weinstein, “MTV is the right place for the franchise to find new life.” Of course, this then, iconic director Wes Craven has passed away – and many cast members have said they wouldn’t return for a fifth movie without him, The Weinstein Brothers have fallen from grace due to Harvey’s massive sexual abuse scandal, and the ratings for ‘Scream: The Series’ over at MTV have been absolutely abysmal, so much so that the showrunners have rebooted season three with an all new cast and managed to get the rights to the Ghostface mask, instead of that blowjob looking thing used in seasons one and two.

‘Scream: The Series’ has been in hiatus since November 2016, and a proposed March 2018 premiere date for season three has come and gone, possibly due to the Weinstein fallout. Because of this, fans are clamoring for a fifth Scream movie again, and one YouTube user, Tommy Ross, went as far as to splice together his own fan made Scream 5 trailer. It was posted on March 19th 2018 and has gathered almost 140,000 views to date. His trailer sees the saga return to the high school, a popular ploy we’ve seen in Scream and Scream 4. The Craven created series has always been hip and fused with pop culture, so the setting is quite appropriate and would appeal to a younger generation of horror viewers. The trailer also sees Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Dewey Riley (David Arquette), and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) return in limited roles, while the imaginary fifth film is lead by Katherine Langford (“13 Reasons Why”), Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name), and Zendaya (Spider-Man: Homecoming). Tommy Ross also linked Scream 5 to the style of Strangers: Prey at Night by including Total Eclipse of the Heart as the backing score, same as the other sequel used I Think We’re Alone Now.

Peep the fan made Scream 5 trailer below. Would you want to watch it? Would you want to see any new Scream installment?
