The First Purge On Track to Become Most Popular Entry in Series.

The First Purge is the fourth most popular movie in cinemas this weekend according to Box Office MoJo. Estimates are starting to trickle in, and the Blumhouse horror-thriller from director Gerard McMurray is estimated to have made $17,150,000 in ticket sales between Friday, July 6th and Sunday, July 8th. This gross brings ‘Purge 4’ to a domestic total of $31,050,000. Based on other estimates for this weekend, it’s safe to say that The First Purge will hold on to its spot and debut at #4 during its first full week in theaters. Not bad for a franchise four films deep!

It’s no wonder that The First Purge is doing so well in theaters. If you look at previous totals, this series seems to become more and more lucrative with every new release. During their full theatrical run, each installment earned: The Purge ($64,473,000), The Purge: Anarchy ($71,962,000), and The Purge: Election Year ($79,213,000). By the end of its own run, I’m predicting that ‘Purge 4’ will become the first or second most successful entry in the series as far as sales goes. Only time will tell, but it’s off to a good start!
