A Quiet Place Receives Oscar Nomination… for Sound Editing.

The 2019 Oscar Nomination ballot has officially hit the internet.

A Quiet Place, directed by John Krasinski, is nominated in the “Best Sound Editing Category.” Ethan Van der Ryn and Erik Aadahl are credited as the men responsible for the work. Having spent two nonconsecutive weeks at #1, A Quiet Place followed a small family in a world filled with foreign monsters that are blind, but hunt humans based on sound.

Considering the lack of spoken word and loud sequences, this nomination is somewhat comical.

According to Variety, A Quiet Place is up against Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody, First Man and Roma.

Hereditary, horror’s front-runner for Oscar Nominations, is absent from the ballot. No other horror films were nominated.
