R.I.P. Sue Lyon – Star of Crash and End of the World

The news broke last night that actress and Golden Globe winner Sue Lyon had passed away on December 26th 2019 at her home in Los Angeles. A close friend confirmed the news to The New York Times while also citing that her health had been declining in recent years. She was 73-years-old at the time of her death.

A model turned actress, Sue Lyon had a promising career that started with a bang, but never really reached its full potential. Most movie buffs will recognize her as the title character in Stanley Kubrick’s Oscar Nominated drama Lolita, of which Sue received a Golden Globe for her performance as a newcomer.

The last leg of her career saw her star in numerous dark-thrillers and horror and science fiction films. These titles include To Love – Perhaps to Die (1973), The Magician (1973), Crash! (1976), End of the World (1977) and The Astral Factor (1978). The last credit of her career was a small role in horror flick Alligator (1980).

All of us here at HorrorSociety send our condolences to her friends, family and fans.
