“I busied myself to think of a story…One which would speak to the mysterious fears of our nature, and awaken thrilling horror…one to make the reader dread to look round, to curdle the blood, and quicken the beatings of the heart…”-Mary Shelley
Abominations of Frankenstein is not an adaptation of the novel. Rather, it’s an homage to the bizarro exploitation films that it inspired. The later Hammer films (Evil of Frankenstein and Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell especially) and the films of Jess Franco (Dracula, Prisoner of Frankenstein and The Erotic Rites of Frankenstein) are especially big influences.
Baron Heinrich von Frankenstein (Anthony D.P. Mann, Terror of Dracula, Return to Frightenstein and the Bleak December audio dramas) has found a way to keep himself alive through the centuries and is now living in modern day Canada, holed up in a decaying laboratory with his murderous and enigmatic assistant Clerval (Vicki Bitis, Blood Rites of the Vampyr and DinoGore) and haunted by the spiteful ghost of Mary Shelley (Melissa Radford, Bleak December’s The Wicker Man and The Canterville Ghost). With Clerval’s assistance, Frankenstein is building a new creature that will unleash a brand new ABOMINABLE reign of terror!
