2D Gothic Fighter ‘The Black Heart’ Comes to Steam 10/22

2D gothic fighter ‘The Black Heart’ comes to Steam in time for Halloween

There is another world apart from ours, a hostile world, ruined by war and hatred, a world painted in red. At the start of ‘The Black Heart’, the king and creator of that world is killed by a monster called Final, who tore out his heart, where he kept all his power. Six creatures, both from our world and the other, chase the monster and fight each other to obtain the heart. The last one standing will gain the power of the heart and become invincible.

In the vein of classic 2D fighters like Street Fighter 2, ‘The Black Heart’ features fast and fluid combat, a wide range of combos, and Special and Super Moves inspired by Capcom’s Darkstalkers. Players will have the chance to live the bloodiest battles, having the opportunity to execute their opponents and delight in gore, in the best Mortal Kombat horror-themed style.

‘The Black Heart’ was originally published as freeware for PC, developed as a hobby by Andrés Borghi, who created the characters for the M.U.G.E.N engine. The original version of the game had a complete story, an original set of characters and stages, and it was well received by the M.U.G.E.N. community.

Now, to commemorate its 10th anniversary, ‘The Black Heart’ gets revamped with the same storyline and tweaks to get ready for modern systems. The Steam Early Access version arrives on October 22 and shows part of the renewed story mode, which respects the stories and cutscenes of the original game, but with new illustrations by cartoonist Nahuel SB. Now adapted to 16:9 widescreen format, some character sprites have also been improved and some fight scenarios were completely redone.

‘The Black Heart’ is the work of solo developer Andrés Borghi, award-winning film director who joined Saibot Studios, the Argentinian studio behind the popular horror series Doorways and irreverent gory shooter Hellbound, to give this fighting game the treatment it deserves and please fans once more. During the Early Access stage, the game will get different updates. Details on this will be announced later this year.
