Sometimes I get something sent my way that just completely stops me in my tracks. I was browsing my emails yesterday morning when I came across one titled “Snake Dick.” People that know me and my type of crude humor knows that this is the kind of title that will give me a hard on (pun included). I already had my next ten reviews planned for the next few days but I had to stop everything to give this one ago. I couldn’t wrap my mind around the possibilities with a title like Snake Dick.

**Spoiler Alert** The film follows two young women who are traveling when their car overheats. They pull in to an isolated service station where they meet two locals who start cat calling them. What these two men don’t expect is for one of these young ladies to have a flute and the other to be hiding a deadly creature. **Spoiler Alert**

During my time here at Horror Society I’ve supported a great deal of feminist/female empowerment projects along with anything I can for the LGBTQ+ community. I’ve reviewed several feminist horror flicks that have a powerful story and message that doesn’t skip on the horror/action. I was really digging this title but the movie just doesn’t live up to it. It’s not a bad short but the short just doesn’t really match the tone of the title while delivering a very confusing message.

The acting in this one is very impressive. The cast is small but they work very well together. The female characters are very strong and smart while the male characters are dense, chauvinistic, and easily scared when things are taken out of their control. The cast was really committed to their characters and the short is very well acted.

The story for this one is interested and a little unique but not what I was expecting at all. When I hear the title Snake Dick and look at the poster I envisioned a movie along the lines to Ron Bonk’s She Kills where the female lead would kill those that wronged her in a sexual but empowering manner. However, what we have here is a story that pretty much says you can’t be in control unless you have a dick bigger than the other person.

Finally, the film only has one death scene, if you want to call it that, which features a decent looking CGI snake but no blood or gore for those of you looking for it. Overall, Snake Dick is a fun short with a great cast and an interesting idea. The story is a missed opportunity but it’s still fun the way it is. Check it out
