I follow a lot of different distribution companies and because of my love of movies I find myself trying to collect as many of their releases as I can. A lot of times I buy movies because of who released them but sometimes a movie catches my eye and I have to have it. Sometime ago I saw SRS Cinema’s Ron Bonk sharing the pre-order for the comedy crime flick Bearkittens from Germany.

The artwork really sparked my imagination so I jumped on the pre-order. When I got it in I was unable to check it out so it was sitting on my desk for sometime just gathering dust until now. I really wanted to have an SRS marathon over the next few days so I decided to start with Bearkittens.

**Spoiler Alert** The film follows a group of female criminals and a social works who venture out into the woods to clean it up as part of their community service. Through flashbacks while they are there we learn more about these young ladies and how their choices lead them there. However, a little camping trip turns deadly when they accidently kill someone forcing them all to make some serious decision that could impact their lives. **Spoiler Alert**

I was really looking forward to checking this one out. The artwork is very colorful and it really makes your mind wonder with possibilities. Sadly, the movie was nowhere near as fun as the artwork. The movie is poorly paced, dull, and extremely predictable. I wanted to like this one but I could barely finish it.

The acting in this one is the only aspect of the film that I found enjoyable. The film has a great cast that really gives their roles everything they have. The characters have personalities that stand out and the cast does a great job at bringing them to life. The story for this one is painfully dull and predictable. The flashbacks are sloppy and slow the film down while the scenes are boring. The story has so much potential but the way it was done it leaves a lot of room for improvements. I really wish it would have went the Weekend at Bernie’s direction over the way it was done.

Finally, if you are looking for a bloody flick then you will be very disappointed. We have a little bloody but that’s it. The film is not a horror flick in the traditional sense so the time wasn’t put into the death scenes like we would have liked. Overall, Bearkittens was a big let down. I know SRS can’t appease us with every release but this one was not for me. I highly recommend skipping this one.
