Key 13 Film Partners Announces Pre-Production of “Phobias”

Horror film starring Helene Udy and Julie Anne Prescott also boasts never before seen monster.

Key 13 Film Partners is pleased to announce the start of pre- production on “Phobias”, a new sci-fi horror film from the makers of award-winning horror short “Hoodie” and the scriptwriter of the award winning “Serious Profession”, Matthew Lee Anderson. The film stars Helene Udy (My Bloody Valentine, Star Trek DS9) and Julie Anne Prescott (Go Away, Bloody Summer Camp).

“Phobias” is the story of 6 people who have been taken by a mysterious organization called “The Firm” to be experimented on by scientist Becky. The prisoners are injected with a
strange drug and forced to navigate a huge maze. In this labyrinth, they must confront their greatest fears while Becky and her team watch. What is Becky’s ultimate goal, and why were the
six chosen?

Major selling points for “Phobias” are:
 All-star cast
 A monster never before seen in horror film history
 A maze to be built for the movie
 Use of practical effects for the monsters and the “kills”
 Genre busting characters
 An intriguing story/mystery

“All of us are very much fans of horror/sci-fi movies like “Cube” and “Prince of Darkness”, but we wanted to put our own spin on it.” says Matthew Lee Anderson, lead writer of “Phobias”. “We are fortunate enough to have an outstanding cast and amazing SFX artists to bring this film to life.”

Helene Udy of the classic cult film “My Bloody Valentine” and horror queen Julie Anne Prescott (who has appeared in over 142 films) lead an extraordinary cast to include Emily Whitcomb (The Vampire and the Vigilante), Matt Burns (Killed on Arrival), Michael McGlynn, Chris Rhydings (both of Bloody Summer Camp), and introducing Emily Flack in her first feature film role. The cast also features appearances by horror actors Mel Heflin (Return to Splatter Farm), Monique Dupree (Shadowhunters: Devilspeak), Matt Burns (Remnants), and Shaun C. Phillips (Scream Bloody Murder).

Along with the cast, the two biggest features of “Phobias” are the maze set and the monsters. The maze, which is where most of the action takes place, will be built at the Key 13 Film Partners studio in Berryville, VA. Along with the impressive maze are monsters designed specifically for the movie. “One of the creatures that was created has never been seen before in
any horror film as far as we know.” says Executive Producer Thomas Touhey. “It’s really exciting to not only have what we hope is an iconic setting but an iconic monster as well”.

“With any horror film, the special effects have to be on point” says SFX Director Craig M. Rosenthal. “With us using practical effects, we need a good team to bring the creatures and the gore to life. We want to give people nightmares.” Special effects will be provided by AmoSFX (Vorhees, Roseblood) and Joan Jones (Copycat Killers, Dark Covenant) with Donnie
Drumm (Hoodie) providing creature prosthetics. Monster designs are by Jeremy Amos of AmoSFX.

“Phobias” was written by Matthew Lee Anderson, Craig M. Rosenthal, Thomas Touhey, and Matt Burns. The cast will be directed by Matthew Lee Anderson with Craig M. Rosenthal
director of the SFX. Filming is scheduled for September and October of 2021, with a projected release of summer 2022. Official website is: https://www.key13film.com/Phobias and official Facebook is https://www.facebook.com/phobiasmovie
