You ever gone to Summer School

After spending the last three days watching crappy B grade horror films to catch up on his website movie reviews, Charles (Simon Wallace) attempts to attend his first day of Summer School. All he wants to do is get his Physics class out of the way before starting senior year. Attending Summer School as well, by court order no less, are two of Charles’ friends, Dennis (Lance Hendrickson) and Steve (Tony Czech). Also, his crush, Lindsey (Amy Cocchiarella), appears to finally notice him. If his teacher, Mrs. Wickham (Jennifer Prettyman), doesn’t drive him insane, what lurks in the school just might…

“Summer School” is a story that is based on the experiences of writer/director Ben Trandem. Back in high school, Trandem took Summer School to get a Government class out of the way before the school year started. Bored out of his mind, he spent evenings and weekends watching tons of bad B horror films. From there, Trandem developed the story of Charles, a horror film aficionado, who falls into a deep sleep during Summer School classes and becomes entangled in a mesh of nightmares, each involving a different category of the horror genre.

Ben enlisted the help of 5 different writer/directors to complete the vision of the film, allowing each director to choose their favorite genre of horror film. Since all directors were taught at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design to make 15 minute shorts, Trandem had no reason to doubt that these directors’ short horror ideas could be combined to make a full feature with a running narrative. Trandem took all the directors’ ideas and scripts for each section and wrote the screenplay. The film was shot on the Panasonic DVX100a on an $8000 budget in 25 days in the Summer of 2005. It was shot on location in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, in St. Patrick’s Catholic School, and in Spooner, Wisconsin.

This is Random Creatureface Films first feature length project.
