Thunderbox Films presents Blairsden

dani 4Can you take a local urban legend and make it into a movie? Sure why not!

This way you have most of the script and plot material at hand. And everyone likes a good myth right? Well Thunderbox Films from New Jersey is currently making one of their local legends into big screen magic. Or at least into DVD magic. Thunderbox’s newest venture into the horror world…. Blairsden.

Check out the synopsis below…

In 1968, two young boys, Andy Gratton and Clay Ortmann discover a dark secret about an order of nuns they deliver groceries to. After a frightening warning to stay away from Blairsden from the weird town recluse, “Thatcher” The boys take no heed and witness a horror that would change their lives forever. 12 kids mysteriously drown in the large lake behind the estate with no bodies to account for. The nuns mysteriously vanish. Generated from his revelation, Andy makes up a scary campfire story just to impress a girl. A story that would become a popular urban legend even 36 years later in the high school he’s now a history teacher at. Nightmares prompt needed closure for Gratton, so he ventures to the estate with 5 of his students, a parapsychologist and a Native American psychic in what is disguised as a history field trip…..

The strange and paranormal escalate with psychic research, left behind clues of a unfinished sacrifice, opened portal, demonic dreams, and the manifestation of trapped spirits (Good &Evil) come to life. Overwhelmed with his tell-tale legend unraveling right under his nose, Gratton confides with his long lost buddy, Clay Ortmann (local cop), whom is lost in the bottle of sorrows and horrific memories. He finally reveals to his students that he is the author of the legend of Blairsden. To their surprise and shock, Dani (psychic goth student), also reveals her communication with Jake, Gratton’s childhood friend who was the last (12) drowning victim in 1968. Gratton’s nightmares hint the Superior Sister Angela might be his real mother but how? And how does his very words have the power to come to pass? Students begin to disappear, Andy grows a psychic sense, but will it help or only destroy all his students and guests? The satanic ritual that began in 1968 pledged for the blood of its’ own. Sealed with 12, mimicking Christ’s disciples but who’s blood is needed? An epic battle at the end fulfills biblical prophesy from the books of Isaiah & Revelations. And the realization of the spiritual power around us, starting in the flesh…

  1. Why would you want to take a beautiful place and smear it? Did you get to film there? I have many pictures of there, even got up to the reflecting pool once in 1987. What about the legend of the glowing man in the woods? You forgot that one, huh? LOL! The head lights in the lake too!

  2. Intense. That creepy mansion has had a legend on it forever, and nobody can take that away. It's obivious from the synopsis that this movie has some complex punch and atmosphere to be a great original destined for the box office. I'd pay $10 bucks to see it for sure, and I'm sure tons of New Jersey folks would too.
