Click on the PictureSo, tell us whats been going on since the last time we talked. I hear you have begun writing and have some new artwork.

Yes. I was browsing on Rob Zombie’s Halloween myspace profile and commented on one of the fan posters and the artist of that poster got in touch with me and made a new poster for Cannibal Farm. The biggest thing that has happened is that I have finished my first draft on the script which turned out even better than I even imagined.

So you have started to write your movie script now, is there anything that you can tell us about it but not give anything away?

Yeah like I said before this is definitely the most brutal story that I have ever written. I have seen many brutal horror films such as Hostel, Saw 1-3, TCM: The Beginning, and the famous 2001 Maniacs which inspired me to write this movie. This film is going to have all of the goods to a great horror film plenty of blood & gore as well as comic relief and nudity. The thing that I loved the most when writing this film is the character development in the film ( yes even the cannibals too). These kids really go through Hell in this movie. There is also conflict between some of the college kids as well. Some of the kids the audience will love and some of them they will hate but the formula and chemistry between the kids is excellent. The family on the otherhand is totally nuts but we don’t see them like that at first. See the thing I wanted to capture is to make the family seem and act normal then evolve into monsters as time goes on. The biggest question everyone will be asking is why this family inflicts so much pain and are the way there are so I added a little backstory to fill in the audience to why our villains are the way they are.

Have you found the writing process to be a steady one or has there been bumps in the road for you?

The writing for Cannibal Farm has been a very steady/fast moving pace. When I first started writing the script, the pace was very steady then went faster and faster as the story progressed. I stayed up all night putting the finishing touches on my 1st draft as well as adding stuff to make it a fun and creepy horrorifying but most brutal story that I have ever written.

Tell us about the column you are writing at Living Dead Reviews.

Well Diary of the Indie Horror Film is a set of entries letting fans and aspiring filmmakers like myself know of what’s going on with the film from Pre-Production and all the way to the final stages of an Indie horror film. My good friend Roy Hayes who is one of the co-owners of Living Dead Reviews and is also going to be an executive producer and an actor in Cannibal Farm came up with this idea to let the fans know what is happening with the film but on the same hand let the aspiring filmmakers know of all the steps that they will indure when making an indie horror film. Since he is a huge part of the Cannibal Farm cast & crew then he thought that Cannibal Farm will be the first movie to enter the diary so everyone can get insight on the film and we can keep them posted on our journey into the Cannibal Farm.

I read that you are starting to cast for the movie right now. Found any new talent out there yet?

Well a lot of my friends are staring in the film. We have Roy Hayes as Cousin Roy, Dinger as Uncle Jimmy, my buddy Ersan as Gary,my beautiful friend Kay who is playing Suzie, San Franpsycho’s Jose Rosete as Sheriff Bert, my buddy Kountry Kamakazee as Deputy J.D.Willis,Survival’s James Sheridan Smith as Bobby. Then we are still searching for the roles of Earl which we are looking for a true horror icon someone well known for being scary, Travis and Sandy (our hero & heroine), Melanie,Sherry,Brock,Shawn, Brenda ( Earl’s wife), the guy on the motorcycle, and the woman who gets killed in the opening of the film.

Are you the one doing the artwork, or is there others? I know there is some fan work out there as well.

Well I have done the teaser posters but Dinger did the Cannibal Farm logo poster and then Nick did a fan poster which is the newest picture up.

Is Cinema Eulogies still on board for the project?

Yes CE is still on board for this project.

Have you found the locations for the shoot yet?

Well Roy is scouting out locations but we think we might have just found the place for the strip club scene but all we need is large farm, a mini gas station, and a regular house for the opening of the movie.

What is some advice you can give people that are thinking about doing a movie like this?

Never give up no matter what people tell you. If you are going into screenwriting just pick up any books in your local bookstore on How to Write a Screenplay and also check out completed movie scripts that you can find online for a frame of reference then go and betgin writing your own. The best thing to do before writing a screenplay is to write a story so you have something to go by then change it into a screenplay by adding stuff that you feel would fit the story better. I am going to take film courses in college while I am getting hands on experience so I can get my degree and have connections at the same time so I can go into the business right after graduation. Others might even want to consider an apprenticeship but that’s if you want to go into HollyWood. Indie filmmakers just go after what you want and never give up and you will soon get to where you want to be.

How did you get the idea for Canibal Farm??

Well like I said I have seen a lot of brutal films in my past. After viewing Saw and Hostel I could not get those 2 films out of my head. They were so brutal but on a smart and intelligent way. I have been a huge fan of the redneck horror films like 2001 Maniacs, Texas Chainsaw Massacre,Motel Hell, House of 1000 Corpses ,and The Devil’s Rejects. When I was younger, I used to go to my great aunt’s farm in North Carolina during the summer time and at night it can be very creepy and one night I had a nightmare about a family out in the middle of nowhere that brutally murdered then cooked their victims to destroy the evidence. I have been brain storming this idea for years and thought wouldn’t it be creepy if a well known farm family who were famous for their town cook outs actually served human flesh instead of animals. The scary part is that the townspeople are unaware of the fact that they had just eaten their closest friends. Then I began to come up with all of these exotic ideas. So I came up with a small backstory to why the Jenkins family killed people and what had set them all off. Alot of the characters that you will see in the movie ( the kids basically) all resemble someone I know. Willis was actually written in because after I told my friend what I was working on then he asked if I could give him a role so I added in a Deputy who is almost an exact version of the actor who is playing him. So basically the idea came from inspiration and a lot of the mysteries that happen in the middle of nowhere.

I know this is going to be a straight to DVD release, but do you have any plans on showing it at festivals or conventions when its done?

Oh Hell yeah!!! This film is going to be a huge hit if it goes the way
I’m hoping that it goes.

Anything else you would like to say or give a shout out to?

Well I would like to say Thank You to the guys that have volunterred or agreed to work on this project.
