IndieOrbit.com Provides a Platform

middle logoIndieOrbit.com, a revolutionary independent film distribution Web site that truly benefits feature-length independent filmmakers, provides a place for all indie filmmakers, including the 93 percent of feature-length films that weren’t chosen to be screened at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. This festival will take place from April 25-May 6 in New York City.

“With 2,250 feature length films submitted and only seven percent of them earning a spot at the Festival, it makes you wonder what happens to all the films that don’t make it,” said William Cicchino, Founder of IndieOrbit.com. “This is where IndieOrbit.com comes in. We offer independent filmmakers a pay-per-view distribution platform that gives them the opportunity to profit from their films and maintain all the rights to their work. The standard distribution path of ‘make your film, hit the festival route, and pray a distributor will pick it up’ is no longer the only option.”

IndieOrbit.com offers feature-length filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their films in high-speed 700kbps, progressive downloads to a world-wide audience. IndieOrbit.com also enforces piracy prevention by using a market leader in digital rights management (DRM) to ensure that films are both copy-proof and only viewable for 48 hours.

In addition, filmmakers are provided with their own film Web page (including the film’s name in the URL), plus space for them to sell advertising on their film page. IndieOrbit.com also supplies filmmakers with a venue for DVD and merchandise sales and offers discounted cast and crew advertising.

“We are putting the distribution power in the hands of the indie filmmakers,” said Los Angeles-based IndieOrbit.com partner, Javier Ruisanchez. “They can now distribute their films online, set their own price per download, retain all the rights, and remain protected from piracy issues all while not having to compete with big studio blockbusters.”

IndieOrbit.com offers price points of $99 for a three-month film posting and a price of $199 for a six-month posting. A 50-cent bandwidth charge applies to all downloads in both price offerings. As an added feature, IndieOrbit.com also offers a low-cost compression service that will compress feature-length films (60 to 120 minutes, plus a 90-second trailer) for $99.

IndieOrbit.com also provides an Anthology Option for short filmmakers. Through this option, filmmakers can arrange their short films in an anthology format, which must be a minimum of 60 minutes and have “Anthology” in the title of the film. Pricing for the Anthology Option remains the same as for feature-length films.
