RIP Nikos Nikolaidis

nikolaidisNikos Nikolaidis cult figure of Greek cinema died yesterday.

Born in 1939 in Athens, director of Ta Kourelia Tragoudane Akoma (The Thrushes Are Still Singing), Glykia Symmoria (Sweet Bunch), Singapore Sling, Zero Years and a bunch more of movies intriguing and provocative, Nikolaidis haunted our collective unconscious with his art. After completing Zero Years in November 2005 he stated that he will quit directing, a rare example of an artist who knows when to retire. If you get the chance, watch his films and you will be rewarded. Great film-maker and also writer he will surely be missed.
