Warner Brothers has owned the rights to the short story I Am Legend since the 1970’s and is now finally releasing the film with the predictable Will Smith as the lead. Luckily, before the 70’s, Ubaldo Ragona directed and Vincent Price starred in a movie version called The Last Man on Earth. It, by all records, was never copyrighted; so a search for it will produce numerous links to legally downloadable versions.
It is, in my estimation, one of Vincent’s best roles in a lesser-known about movie.
Please give it a watch–dizzying camera work for a 60’s film, overlapping images, psychosis, and a pandemic. What else could you ask for?
