Backwoods Bloodbath

Rex2

“Backwoods Bloodbath” is an old school horror-gore flick about six friends who take a road trip to a back country town where a local legend has been feeding off the population for decades, only to find themselves becoming the latest items on the creature’s menu.

This Midwest massacre is completed & currently on the film festival circuit, having been nomiated for:
BEST SCREENPLAY at the TERROR FILM FESTIVAL,
WINNER of BEST FEATURE RUNNER-UP at the FULL MOON HORROR FILM FESTIVAL, & nominated for
BEST FEATURE at the IT CAME FROM LAKE MICHIGAN HORROR & SCI-FI FILM FESTIVAL.

‘Backwoods Bloodbath’ (click the title for the trailer) will premiere in New York City in late Feb./early March.

BACKWOODS BLOODBATH-from the director:

When you tell people you’re going to shoot a 90 page feature film in 11 days with no budget, everyone looks at you thinking the same thing: ‘you’re out of your fucking mind.’ Backwoods Bloodbath was made possible with a combination of creativity & endurance.

Sleepless nights were a norm around set. McDonalds for breakfast & lunch, with the occasionally cheese brick (not kidding) or Jack’s frozen pizza in between. The cabin we filmed in was owned by my friend from college & when we weren’t shooting there, the crew was literally staying there (We joke that when the cabin owner in the film says that the kids will have heat & running water that it’s not true, because we only really had that for half the time we were shooting). The shredded deer prop was supplied by my father’s friend who is a butcher—I had to drive with it for 4 hours in the car up north. Etc, etc.

It was a hail-Mary production & a race to beat the snowfall that somehow got filmed, eeked our way through post production, and is somehow competing in the film festival circuit.

The film’s saviors were the high definition camera, our ‘borrowed’ lights from the local film school (which we weren’t attending), a competent cinematographer, die hard physical FX goons that will make anything, and an assorted array of up & coming young actors plucked from various theater programs around the state; as well as a couple from commercial & tv work.
